E 101: Terrifying Treatments
Mental Health has been a mystery since the beginning of time. It is complex and difficult to understand and even more challenging to treat. There have been extreme and terrifying treatments over the years. We share our top 10 in no particular order. We couldn’t bring ourselves to order them because each of them is as disturbing and upsetting as the next.
Luckily we have come a long way in treatment for mental health, but there is always room to do better. The one thing we can do today to make things better for those struggling with mental illness is to understand that it is not scary. So while these treatments of the past are quite scary, the mental illness itself is not.
Stopping the stigma around Mental Health is the most important thing we can do. Talking about it helps to normalize it. So join us in our fight to stop the stigma: share your story, listen to others, and educate yourself to understand the things you don’t know about before making judgments.
